My original digital fractal paintings are the groundwork for the prints I sell here on SmugMug. I first mathematically create a variety of self similar, infinitely repeating shapes that I combine together on multiple layers that then give the illusion of depth. After I finish my computer work, I print the original fractal on archival canvas and paint many layers of translucent acrylic gel overt the image making each one truly an original, signed and numbered piece. It is then stretched over a wooden frame giving the finished piece a "gallery wrapped" appearance. All original are sold directly through me and NOT here at SmugMug so if you are interested in a particular piece, please contact me for further details.
I am a self-taught fractal artist with over 25 years experience with digital computer art. I didn't have any formal mathematical nor art training, I never learned all the things I wasn't supposed to do, I just created the way things made sense to me. I experiment. I also try not to confuse communication of what I see in my art with what you see, it won't communicate the same thing to all. That is why I don't name my art. I don't feel it's fair to impose my impression on your visual journey by telling you what you should see. It just is.
I draw my inspiration from my very eclectic views of nature along with the psychedelic scene in the 60's. That eras music, personalities and light shows truly affected my perception of art and my fractals are the culmination of that journey.
Here you will find a small collection of my works that represent a wide variety of my styles from my early years up to the present. This is only a tiny fraction of all the fractals I've created but they are many of my best works.
